Marie "Rea" Estelle Williams

Marie "Rea" Estelle Gunter Williams, 93, of Lufkin, was born August 7, 1917 in Cooper, Delta County, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Leona (Smithson) and John R. Gunter. Mrs. Williams passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2010 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Williams was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandson was the apple of her eye. Her life centered around her home and family. She was a devoted Christian and a member of Union Road Church of Christ, where she was a Sunday School teacher many years ago.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Ted Devaney of Lufkin; grandson , Zachary Pat Devaney of Lufkin; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elvin "Pat" Williams; 3 sisters; and 4 brothers.

Pallbearers will be Zach Devaney, Shane Stafford, Dustin Mouton, Dennis Phillips, Wayne Phillips and Jack Dickey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Lawson and Ray Fenley.

Mrs. Williams' family greatly appreciates the outstanding support and care of Henderson Dialysis Center, and Drs. Imran Nazeer, Prashant Kumar and Kyle Krohn.

Services for Mrs. Williams will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2010 in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel at the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, with interment following in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. Thursday prior to service time at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel at the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
