Joyce Jeanette Williams

Joyce Jeanette (Ford) Williams, 81, of Lufkin, was born September 10, 1930 in Diboll, Texas, the daughter of the late Neel (Jones) and L. B. Ford. She passed away Friday, September 23, 2011 in a local hospice facility.

Mrs. Williams as a very loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend. After graduating from Diboll High School in 1949, she attended Massey Business School while working at the telephone company. Later in life, she worked at Bealls Department Store and then retired from Brookshire Brothers. Mrs. Williams enjoyed her church family at Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Brenda Williams of Lufkin; son, Jeff Williams of Lufkin; granddaughter, Elizabeth Williams; grandson, Parker Williams; step grandsons, Lee Ross and Brian Ross; step granddaughter, Trayce Rogers; and a number of other family members.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her brothers, Walter Stephens, Wallace Ford and L. B. Ford Jr.

Mrs. Williams' family wish to extend special thanks to the staffs of Hospice in the Pines and Castle Pines Health & Rehabilitation Center for the loving care shown to her while in their care.

32 Services for Mrs. Williams will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2011 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
