James had fought a battle with congestive heart failure and other medical problems for years.
James grew up in Louisiana and Texas. His best friend for 55 years was his wife, Bobbie. James had a love for his family that shined bright. Anywhere you saw James, you saw his wife and children. He was a family man. James loved to hunt and fish. He attended a non-denominational church. He will be dearly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Dorris of Pollok; daughters, Deborah Lea Byrum and friend Lynn Breaux of Jasper and Cindy Wilkerson and husband James of Pollok; sons, James "Bubba" Dorris and wife Kathy of Woodville and Jerry Glenn Dorris of Corrigan; brothers, Allen Dorris and wife Lou of Conroe, Noah Bacon Jr. and wife Mary of Fuller Springs and Gene Bacon and wife Melba of Diboll; sisters, Patsy Guidry of New Iberia, LA, Judy Cook and husband Bobby of Youngville, LA, and Janice Tullos and husband Thomas of Corrigan; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
James was preceded in death by his daughter, Carla Jean Dorris; mother, Susie Mae Bacon; father, James Albert Dorris; grandson, Joshua M. Byrum; and daughter-in-law, Gina Dorris.
Memorial services for James will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2010 in the Time of Harvest Church in Corrigan, with Bro. Rick Clark officiating.
