Dolores Charline Tidwell

Services for Dolores Charline Tidwell, 80, of Zavalla, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2014 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Dewayne Thornton and Chaplain Bob Harbuck officiating. Interment will follow in the Zavalla Cemetery.

Mrs. Tidwell was born September 26, 1933 in Zavalla, Texas, the daughter of the late Bonnie Mae (Helms) and William Bennie Paul. She passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at her residence.

Mrs. Tidwell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as a homemaker. She attended school in Zavalla. She married Morris T. Tidwell on January 27, 1951, took care of her family at home, and worked helping her husband with the U. S. Forest Service. She and her husband were caretakers at Boykin Springs for several years. She enjoyed singing, flower gardening, quilting, cooking, crocheting, hunting, fishing, twirling, hunting arrowheads and rocks and collecting baseball cards and matchbox cars. She also enjoyed raising and breeding dogs. Mrs. Tidwell was of the Pentecostal Faith and loved the pioneer way of life.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie Barnhart of Texas, Dora and Charlie Daniel of Batson, Donna Cheney of Zavalla, Shelia and Dan Horvath of Nolensville, Tennessee, and Michele and John Welisevich of St. Paul, Minnesota; son-in-law, Carl Barnhart of Louisiana; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Margie Martin of Zavalla and Jean Lawson of Hudson.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tidwell was preceded in death by her husband, Morris R. Tidwell on May 24, 1995; great-grandson, Danny Basham; son-in-law, Floyd Cheney; sisters, Joyce Jordan and Louise Worthy; and brother, Merlyn Paul.

Pallbearers will be Carl David Barnhart, Clifford Alan Barnhart, Charlie Wayne Daniel, Jr., Patrick Wayne Cross, Jordan Daniel Horvath, and Michael Anthony Welisevich.

Honorary pallbearer will be Joseph Enlow.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
