Mr. King was a wonderful husband, loved his children, and was good to his children. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and he kept a very clean yard. He enjoyed country and western music and traveling. During his last years, he wanted to go back to places where he spent the early years of his life with his parents and other brothers. He really just enjoyed riding around in the last 2 years of his life. He was retired from Champion Paper Company following more than 35 years of employment. He served his country with the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955. Mr. King was an active member of Loop 287 Church of Christ for more than 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie King of Pollok; daughters, Mary Frances King, Katherlin Louise Mueller, Ruby Coker and Becky Hoag; brother, Cloyce King of Lufkin; grandchildren, Michael Mangus, John Mangus, Christopher King, Sabrina, Heather, Carrie, Cason and Nicholas; and a number of other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. King was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances King; and brothers, James King, Joe King, Carlos King and George Lewis King.
Pallbearers will be Deacons of Loop 287 Church of Christ, Michael Parker, Lynn Chesser, Dan Eddins, Al Hargraves, Richard Harris, James King, Allen Lyons, Richard McCary, Charlie McLain, Bob Ruby, and Andy Taylor.
Honorary pallbearers will be Elders of Loop 287 Church of Christ, Wayne Davis, Ted Eddins, Abbott Hargraves, Jim McDonald and Vernon Swor.
Services for Mr. King will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 16, 2010 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Kyle Campbell and Jim McDonald officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
