Mr. Havard served with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a long-time resident of Diboll.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Carey and Russ Reeder of Lufkin; daughters, Regina Havard of Lufkin and Charla Redd of Hudson; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Cheri and David Skelton of Alvin; grandchildren, Brenden Havard, Gavin Havard, Rylan Mosley and Kelsi Redd; granddaughters by heart, Alyssa Cabellero, Leah and Kassie Martin; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Mildred Havard of Austin; sisters, Ruby Gilcrease of Gladewater and Mary Oliver of Diboll; sisters-in-law, Sally Jane Havard of Lufkin and Rena Havard of New Orleans, Louisiana; dear friends, Connie and Katelyn Olson of Diboll; and a number of nephews, nieces, and friends.
Mr. Havard was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Hershell Havard, Derl Havard, Albert Havard and Milton Havard.
Mr. Havard was affectionately known as PawPaw, Hollywood and Doc. He will be remembered for his outgoing and fun-loving personality.
Pallbearers will be Gary Dean Havard, Roy Wade, Danny Havard, Donald Renfro and Keith Oliver.
Services for Mr. Havard will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 23, 2012 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Buster Griggs officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Diboll.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
