Catherine A. (Rush) Lee

Catherine A. (Rush) Lee, 95, of Lufkin, was born August 31, 1917 in Burke, Texas, the daughter of the late Tellie M. (Arrington) and Zusle “Dutch” Rush. She went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 31, 2012.

Catherine was born and raised in Burke, Texas. She married her husband Woodrow Lee on March 21,1937 and raised their sons, John and Bo in Burke as well. She was a lifetime member of the Burke chapter of the Eastern Star and also served as a lifetime member of the Burke Baptist Church. Catherine was a homemaker with the exception of the years she worked at the old Burke School. When labeling her a homemaker, it is definitely an understatement. She lived her life for others and her world revolved around the ones she loved. This started with her boys, to her grandchildren, leading to her great grand children and ending with her great-great grand children, Bryli, Carsen, and Catherine Lee. She loved spending time with her loved ones, messing around outside, cooking in the kitchen, or just rocking on the front porch. Catherine had a naturally caring heart and found pleasure in others' happiness. She was a remarkable woman and is, without a doubt, irreplaceable. As a Christian, she found peace knowing she would meet her lost loved ones again in heaven.

Survivors include her cousin (but sister at heart), Barbara Pletcher; great-grandson and great-daughter-in-law, Chad and Telisa Lee; great-great granddaughter, Bryli Lee; great-great grandson, Carsen Lee; daughters-in-law, Helen Lee and Ada Lee; grandchildren, Mike Segrest, Rebecca Lee Jones, Lori Lee Ray, Robert Lee, Joe Parish, Butch Parish, Diane Parish Ulmer, James Parish, Bobby Lee, and Regina Lee Wright; 22 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; brother, Allen "Buddy" Rush, Sr.; sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jo and Leroy Smith; sister-in-law, Margie Rush; numerous nieces and nephews and a number of other family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow W. Lee; sons, John Edward Lee and George "Bo" Lee; sisters, Flossie Thigpen, Leola Thompson and Margaret Brown; brother, Zusle Rush, Jr.; granddaughter, Cheryl Segrest; great-grandsons, Jason Jones and Jacob Parish.

Pallbearers will be Justin Lee, Carsen Lee, Terrance Jones, Jason Hannah, Bradley Smith, John Jacob Loggins, Jeremy Peden and Jerry Peden.

Honorary pallbearers will be Earline Thigpen, Joe and Ann Thigpen, Hannah Conway, Stephanie Harris, Johnny Rush and Patsy colbert.
