Carolyn Joyce (Brown) Shepherd

Services for Carolyn Joyce Shepherd, 72, of Lufkin, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2018 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with D. L. Merritt officiating. Interment will follow in the Sims/Rocky Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Shepherd was born December 9, 1945 in Angelina County, Texas, the daughter of the late Ruth (Henry) and Jack F. Brown. She made the journey to Heaven on August 9, 2018 from her home of over 30 years.

Mrs. Shepherd was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. One of her greatest joys in life was spending time and taking care of her family and friends. She was a talented cook, famous among family for her pies. She enjoyed writing and was blessed to have her poems published. Carolyn also enjoyed spending time outdoors.

Survivors include her sisters, Judy Brown and Doris Aldredge; son and daughter-in-law, David F. and DeAnne Shepherd; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Jeff Wise; grandchildren, Brandi Smiley, Angie Houston, Matt Shepherd, Jessica Jenkins, Lindsey Mayes, Jacob Shepherd, Tiffany Wise and Shelby Shepherd; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shepherd was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, David Shepherd.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Mayes, Bobby Woods, Richard Ayers, Christopher Baker, James Garcia and Doug Stripling.

Honorary pallbearer will be Ricky Hardin.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Services have been placed in the trust of Gipson Funeral Home.
