"Sally" Boyd, 88, of Tulia, Texas, passed away on September 17, 2017. Sarah Alice McCoy was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on March 24, 1929. Along with her older brother Sam and her younger sister Cathy, Sally grew up in New Orleans and Houston.
Following her graduation from high school in New Orleans in 1947, the family then moved to California. While working at a Northrup Aircraft plant in Hawthorne, Sally met Kenneth L. Boyd. They were married on December 19, 1950, and after a brief stay in Albuquerque, the young couple spent two years living near air bases in England.
In 1954, they returned to the United States and settled in Tulia, Texas, where they farmed and raised their two boys. Sally attended nursing school at West Texas State University in the 1970s. She became an LVN and worked in nursing for many years at hospitals, nursing homes, and MHMR centers in Tulia and Plainview. Sally and Ken moved to an assisted living facility in Lubbock in 2013, and Ken passed away on August 17, 2015.
Sally loved gardening, playing bridge, and entertaining when her family and friends came to visit. She especially loved being Nana to her grandchildren.
Sally is survived by her sister (Cathy Dies), her two sons (Blair and Doug Boyd), four grandchildren (Lori Hill, Bailey McCaslin, Brady Boyd, and Jena Boyd), and five great grandchildren (Ava Hill, Madden Hill, Grace McCaslin, Blair McCaslin, and Blakley Boyd).
