Ruthie Dell Dean, 92, passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Home on October 26, 2021. She was the fifth child of eight children born to Will and Carmen Parks in Dardanelle, AR. Ruthie and Chester were married on November 2, 1947. They moved to Lubbock in 1954 from Dardanelle, AR. Ruthie worked as a hostess at First Christian Church for many years and loved all her friends and co-workers there.
Ruthie and Chester were members of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Lubbock until they their passing. Ruthie enjoyed spending time in the church volunteering , cooking and hosting for gatherings.
Ruthie’s good sense of humor always made others laugh. When asked, “how are you doing today?”, she would say, with a grin, “I’m good; nobody has told me otherwise”. She enjoyed sharing her famous Peanut Brittle with everyone. She would share a card game or play dominoes whenever the chance would arise.
The most important part of Ruthie’s life was her family and felt blessed to share their love. Her children loved her dearly and are thankful she gave them God’s greatest love, the gift of life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester T. Dean; an infant son, Clarence Dean; her parents, three sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by her sisters, Earcle Sides of Dardanelle, AR and Faye Adkinson, of Hemmet, CA; her children, Charles Dean (Caroline) of Longview, TX; Nita Ashmore (Jim) of Kerrville, TX; Thomas Dean (Verna) and Tricia Roark (Clay) of Lubbock, TX. She has eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was loved by countless nieces, nephews, co-workers and friends.
