Rita graduated from Cleveland High School in 1960. She obtained her cosmetologist license in 1962. She married Sammy Lee Turner on April 3, 1965.
She assisted with Cub Scout activities, as well as helping coach her children in various sporting leagues. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and embroidering. When her children were older, she opened and in-home daycare where she was able to continue providing the same love and care she had for her own children.
Rita was preceded in death by husband, Sammy; four brothers J.D Peacock, William (Bill) Peacock, Art Peacock and Edward Peacock; three sisters Tess Pitts, Juanita (Honey) Murrah, and Judy Ballard.
She is survived by her sons Keenan Turner of Lubbock, TX, and Kerry and (daughter –in-law) Rosie of Cypress, TX, and daughter Angela and son-in-law) Todd Parvin of Schertz, TX; her grandchildren Cody Parvin of New Braunfels, TX and Courtney and Cory McKee of New Braunfels, TX; and three great grand-children Cory Jr, Emma and Luke McKee; her sisters Doris Chapman of Clara, MS, Ann McFarland of Cleveland, MS, Linda Hogue of Purcell, OK and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Rita will be held Friday, June 2, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home, 5740 West 19th St, Lubbock, TX 79407.
A graveside service will occur Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Silverton Cemetery, county road K, Silverton, TX 79257.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Legacy of Love Hospice in Lubbock.
