Reba Jean Rice

Reba was born on September 10, 1932 in Ralls, Texas, to James and Eunice Gauny. She was raised on a ranch about 30 miles outside of Ralls. She graduated from Ralls High School in 1951 and married Arthur Lee Rice, Jr on August 25, 1952. Together they began their lives in Ralls; they then moved to Lubbock in the mid 50’s and began to raise their family. She had a love for animals, the outdoors, fishing, bicycling, and dancing. She was a longtime member of South Side Baptist Church where she served in the Woman’s ministry and Sunday School before becoming a member of the South Park Baptist Church.

She was survived by daughter; Debbie Harris of Lubbock, son; Terry Lynn Rice of Lubbock, daughter Tammie Williams of Mobeetie, Tx, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one sister; Dorothy Roberts of Irving, Tx and her two puppies; Pebbles and Tinker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur, one son; Jimmy Lee and one sister.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 1:00 PM at South Park Baptist Church with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 from 5-8 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home.
