Michael "Mike" Reagan Davis

Michael Reagan Davis passed away on February 25th, 2023, after a series of illnesses. Services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2221 Ave W in Lubbock on Saturday, March 4th at 1:00 pm with burial following at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday March 3, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Mike was born on September 1st, 1947 in Lamesa, Texas to Forest Reagan Davis and Leona Smith Davis. He grew up in Tahoka, Texas, playing baseball and football. He graduated from Tahoka High School in 1965 going directly into the Navy. Mike served as a Radarman on the USS Bradley touring Vietnam, the Philippines and Japan. His ship was involved when North Korea captured the USS Pueblo in 1967 for over 30 days. Mike served for 3 years active duty and 14 years in the Naval Reserve.

Mike married Barbara Gilley in 1971 at Redeemer Lutheran Church. They raised 4 children, Wendy, Jeffrey, Bradley and Heather. Mike was a UPS Truck Driver for 30 years before retiring.

He enjoyed scuba diving, collecting everything, yard work, travelling and spending time at his lake house at Possum Kingdom but most of all, his grandchildren were the highlight of his life.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, beloved “granny” Lillian, beloved Aunt Joyce, Jerry Don, JD Davis and his brother Keith Davis.

Surviving are his wife Barbara of 51 years, Wendy (Scott) Campbell, Jeffrey (Tiffany) Davis, Bradley (Erika) Smith and Heather Davis. Grandchildren Colt, Reid, Emileigh, Jacob, Tanner (Lauren), Kailin (John) Opella, Tatiana, Trayson and great grandson Layne. Siblings Kathy Paxton, Annette Karnes, David (Teresa) Davis, Brenda (Tom) Frank and Kenneth Davis.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Redeemer Braille Works (2221 Ave W., Lubbock, TX 79411) or the American Diabetes Association or Kidney Foundation.

Serving as pallbearers are Tanner Davis, Colter Campbell, Reid Campbell, Jacob Smith, David Davis, Chris Davis and Michael Gilley.
