Mary “Merry” Looney, age 90 of Dallas, passed away peacefully on December 6th, 2023 after a long illness. She was born in Brownwood, Texas on February 16, 1933 and attended school in Lubbock, Texas graduating from Lubbock High School in 1951. She married Carl Looney in December, 1972.
Mary worked at Southwestern Public Service Company in Lubbock for more than 30 years. She was a loved and devoted colleague, friend, neighbor, wife and above all, mother. Mary
passionately helped those in need, especially animals. She volunteered much of her time for
the Lubbock Humane Society and rescued countless homeless animals through the years. At
the center of Mary’s life was her son, Max, her only child whom she loved with all her heart and
soul.
She is survived by her son, Max Warren and her daughter-in-law, Carol Warren, both of Dallas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Looney, her parents Carl and Mary Marsh and
her beloved friend and “second mother”, Audrie Hufstedler Warren, along with many loving
friends and family members.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10am, January 9th, 2024 at Resthaven Funeral Home in
Lubbock.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Humane
Society of the US.
