Mary JoAnn (Dunkle) Chilton

Services for Mary JoAnn (Dunkle) Chilton, 88 of Lubbock, TX. passed from this life to a better life with the Lord Jesus Christ on November 1, 2022. Celebration of life will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 3, 2022 in the Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with Pastor David Salvage of Trinity Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park with services under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock Texas. The family will gather to receive friends at Resthaven Funeral Home on Friday, December 2, 2022 from 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm. Mary JoAnn died on November 1, 2022 in Lubbock, Tx after a short stay with Angel Arms Assisted Living Home.

JoAnn was born on November 12, 1933 in Levelland TX to William and Mary Stockard. She graduated from Levelland High School in 1951. She was employed by Civil Service, several Insurance companies, the High Plains Water District, several local attorneys and Texas Tech Law School/General Council. She retired from Texas Tech Law School after several years. She was a former member of Oakwood Baptist Church and a present member of Trinity Church.

JoAnn's love was music, religion and her cats. She was active in church and loved reading, studying the bible and playing the piano. During her downtime she was a former member of the Trinity Jubilee Choir and a present member of Peta and the Humane Society. She had a great love for God, life, all animals and enjoyed taking care of her cats

Mary JoAnn was proceeded in death by her parents; William and Mary Stockard, her sister Lorena Matthews Winton, two brothers; Bert Stockard and wife Marie, and Buford Stockard and wife Catherine. She is survived by her son James C. Chilton, and wife Betty, of Cypress Texas, two nephews - David Stockard, and wife Linda, of Taylors, South Carolina, John Stockard, and wife Gerlinde of Westminster, Colorado, two nieces; Nan Stockard of Corsicana and Sharon Cearley, and husband Jerry, of Leander, Texas
