Lovelle Colleen Ginn Owens, born October 26, 1922 to James Clarence and Fannie Morene Ginn in Sweetwater, Oklahoma was called to her heavenly home on October 2, 2015. She moved with her family to a farm in Floydada, Texas, where she spent her youth before attending Wayland Baptist College in Plainview, Texas.
After moving to Lubbock, she married Clyde Ross Owens on January 24, 1948, and together they raised two sons, John Clarence and Jimmy Dale. A woman of exceptional strength and grace, Lovelle excelled as a loving wife and mother while working for over 30 years as an accountant at Reese Airforce Base, volunteering countless hours at Trinity Baptist and Oakwood Baptist Churches, and attending as many of John & Jimmy’s athletic events as possible.
After retirement she traveled the world, returning to China at age 80 because she forgot to climb the Great Wall! Lovelle continued her church service, took up bridge, and gave numerous volunteer hours to various organizations in Lubbock. Her spiritual strength, poise and unending grace served her well during her declining health, yet after a long life well lived, she would readily admit that her greatest accomplishment was the raising of her two boys!
Lovelle is preceded in death by her parents, husband Clyde, and her sister Faynelle Fyffe. She is survived by her sons John Owens (Cindy), Jimmy Owens (Susan), grandsons Tom Sawyer (Kate), Zachary Sawyer (Victoria), 7 great grandchildren, nephews Jay Adkins, David Fyffe, Doug Fyffe, Tony Tippett, nieces Deann Curry, Kathryn Harrison, and her cousin Glenna Roberts.
Special thanks go to her devoted caregivers Sally, Gabby, Elaine, Nikki, Dianna and Ninfa; the staff at Carillon House 2nd floor North; and the doctors and nurses who lovingly tended to her needs in her declining years..
