Johnny Franklin Shirley

Johnny Franklin Shirley, age 49, of Lubbock, Texas passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023. Johnny was born in Lima, Peru on May 20,1974. He is survived by his mother Janet Hill Shirley, his sister Shanna Parrish, his nieces Amy Roye and Nevaeh Dahl and other nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister Sandra Lynn Roye, his father John F. Shirley, his grandfather WW Hill, his grandmother Audrey Hill, and his cousin Casey Foster. He graduated from Coronado High and attended both Texas Tech University and South Plains College. He was baptized at Trinity Church. Johnny was an avid reader as he read thousands of books and listened to audio books every night. He loved music and was always ahead of the next trend. One of his favorite things to do was just drive around, listening to a new album heard discovered. Even better when he could share it with a friend! Adventure and Johnny were synonymous. Friends could always count on him to be in, whether it was a road trip, checking out live music, going dancing, shooting off fireworks, or just catching up like no time had passed at all. He was a loyal friend and would give anyone an ear, listen to their problems, and share advice when needed as all without any judgment. He had a kind heart, a sweet smile, and blue eyes that could pierce your soul. To know him was to love him. He was an amazing person and will be deeply missed.
