Jo Ann Martin

Mrs. Martin was born on August 19, 1941, in Matador, TX to John and Berndena (Nelson) Harris Hawkins. Jo Ann married Benny Martin on October 10, 1964. They were married lovingly for 52 years when he preceded her in death in 2016. Her son, David Mark Martin also preceded her in death.

Jo Ann was a wonderful wife and mother who loved and supported her family unconditionally. She was especially devoted to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, supporting them in all of their activities and events. She was an avid gardener, fantastic decorator and the hostess of numerous wonderful family get togethers. She will be deeply missed here on earth by her family and friends, but her spirit will continue to abide within us all.

Jo Ann was the embodiment of selflessness, generosity and love. Those left to follow her example include her children, Rhonda and her husband James Bell, of Lubbock, Kim and her husband Chad Walker, of Frisco, TX ; four grandchildren, Trevor Bell and his wife Laura, Court Walker, Addyson Walker, Macy Baum and her husband Matt; two great grandchildren, Ava and Parker Bell. She also leaves behind one sister, Linda Nelson.

Visitation for Jo Ann will be held, Saturday, December 21, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home & Cemetery, 5740 West 19th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79407. The service will take place on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home and Cemetery.
