James (Jim) Kary Reid, 95, of Lubbock, TX, died in the comfort of his home on August 5, 2024. He was born May 5, 1929 in Justiceburg, TX. Jim graduated from Levelland High School where he met Mary Lou Burks, whom he later married in 1950. James and Mary had 42 years together until her passing in 1992. He spent two years in the Army from 1951-1953 as a specialist in the Army Signal Corp. Afterward he found employment with Homer G. Maxey & Co. (later to become Fields and Company) in Lubbock. In 1970 he established Reid Sales Agency as a manufacturer's representative for commercial and industrial lighting products serving West Texas and Eastern New Mexico for more than 20 years.
Jim married his current wife, Donna Nunley, in 1996 with whom he was happily married for 28 years. He is survived by his three loving children Rhondy Barker and Kary Reid (Dana Taylor) of Lubbock, Twila Hutchinson (Harry) of Fischer, TX, and Donna's son, Nicky Nunley (Angela) of Lubbock. Jim and Donna established a blended family that includes 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A service of remembrance will be held at 10 am, Saturday, August 31, 2024 in the Abbey Chapel at Resthaven Funeral Home at 5740 19th St, Lubbock.
We'd like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of Jim's caregivers from Hospice of Lubbock, Synergy Homecare, and Comfort Keepers of Lubbock for their loving support. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made in Jim's honor to Hospice of Lubbock.
