Services for Emily Seitter Myers, 89, of Lubbock, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011 in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven. She passed away on Wednesday, May 19th.
Emily was born on July 11, 1921 in Wilmington, NC to Carl and Danie Westbrook Seitter. She was raised in Wilmington and graduated from Queens University in Charlotte, with a BS in Art. She furthered her studies at the Univeristies of N.C. and East Carolina.
Emily had worked as a lab technician in the F.B.I. Laboratory in Washinton D.C. She served on the operating committee of the Wilmingtion USO during the Korean War and taught art at the Sunset Park Junior High in Wilimington.
Emily married Troy Myers in Wilmington on June 25, 1955 and soon thereafter, moved to Lubbock. She assisted in the colonization of the Phi Mu Chapter at Texas Tech and served as its Alumini Advisor. Additionally, she held various offices with the Allumni Chapter of the Lubbock City Panhellenic, the Lubbock Symphony Guild, Lubbock Women’s Club, the Town and Country Garden Club, and Women’s Division of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce. She owned and operated Emily Myers Gallery for 15 years and was a member of Trinity Church.
Emily was preceded in death by her husband, Troy, in January of 2009 and a sister, Olive Fulbright, in November of 2010.
Survivors include a son, Peter of Lubbock, and a nephew, Terry Fulbright of North Carolina.
