Dorothy Kay (Rainey) Jones, 83, of Lubbock, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 20, 2018. She was born in Lynn County in September of 1934, to the late Benjamin Franklin Rainey and William “Willie” (Legate) Rainey.
She attended and graduated from Cooper High School in 1953. She had previously worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and also H & R Block before retirement. Dorothy, alongside her husband, Bobby Jones, were among the founding members of the Cooper Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years, Bobby J. Jones, two brothers: Jay Rainey and George Rainey, three sisters: Louise Davis, Bessie Brashear, and Polly Rainey.
Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Kathy Talbott and husband, David of Wolfforth, her son, Jeff Jones of Midland; 7 grandchildren: Kay’lea and Lillea Talbott of Wolfforth , Randie Bloom and husband Cory, Kristie Jones, Lewis Jones and wife Heather, Kyle Hunnicutt, and Courtney Jones, all of Midland; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Inez Sooter of Halfway, and June Williams and husband Mike of Lubbock, and a host of nieces, nephews, granddogs, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 from 6-8 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 2 PM on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Cooper Church of Christ with interment following at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
