Graveside services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at Resthaven Memorial Park with Pastor Terry Kirkpatrick officiating. Friends are invited to come by Resthaven Funeral Home beginning Monday at 9am to 8pm. Charles was born on July 9, 1921, in Woodbury, Gloucester County, New Jersey, to the late Charles Earl Blinn, Sr. and Jessie Johnson Blinn. He lived in Wildwood Crest, Cape May County, New Jersey, and graduated from Wildwood High School in 1939. He worked for a realtor until he enlisted in the US Army Air Corps in January 1942. During his service he was stationed at Pecos Air Field, Pecos, Texas, and there he met and married Alice Bennette on March 7, 1943. He was later transferred to the Air Transport Command in Newfoundland as a Tech Sergeant Chief of Weights and Balances. He was discharged from active service in November 1945 and from the Air Force Reserves in 1955.
In 1946, Charles and Alice moved to Lubbock where he took a refresher course in accounting at Draughn’s Business College and worked part time as an auditor for a public accounting firm. He then worked as an accountant –comptroller for 0 & A Tex-Pack for 35 years, retiring in 1982. He was a Presbyterian and a member of the American Legion.
Charles was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanne Charlene; his parents; and two sisters, Mildred Higgins and Dorothy Lutz.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice of 67 years; several nieces and nephews, and cousins.
