Charles Larry Bullard (Larry) was born on December 5, 1953, in Plainview, Texas. When he was 16, his family moved to the Ft. Worth area where he lived for the next 24 years.
In 1974 at the age of 20, Larry started his 38-year career working at Trader’s Oil Mill in Ft. Worth which later became Proctor & Gamble, then ADM.
While living in the Ft Worth area, Larry raised the loves of his life, his two daughters, Kim and Jennifer. They grew up in the ‘country’ where Larry shared his love for animals with them and enjoyed working on his land. You could always find him outside tinkering in the barn, building and repairing all sorts of things. It was once said that he knew a little bit about everything and there wasn’t really anything he didn’t know something about.
In 1996, Larry transferred with his company to Lubbock, where he met his wife of 28 years, Sheila. They moved to Alabama in 1997, and then to Georgia in 2000. Larry joined a bowling league in Georgia and developed many lifelong friendships through bowling. Larry and Sheila bowled for years, sharing their enjoyment and passion for the sport and the friends they made.
Larry also had a love for fishing and enjoyed taking his boat out to the many lakes and ponds in the area. He once took his grandkids out in a canoe where, to their surprise, there were many alligators that joined them. Larry also once sank his boat and had to swim back to shore, which did not surprise those who knew him.
After his retirement at the age of 59, Larry and Sheila moved back to Lubbock and spent his last years enjoying his children and grandchildren. Larry attended their many activities, but mostly enjoyed good natured teasing and pestering of us all. Larry was a jokester and truly a down-to-earth good ol’ boy.
Larry will be lovingly remembered by his family: wife, Sheila (Zeigler) Bullard; daughter, Kimberley Fisher (Brad) and granddaughters Kendall and Kelsey; daughter, Jennifer Boyd (Jeremy) and grandchildren Madison, and Austin (Kylie); son, Rodney Zeigler (Shelley) and granddaughters Amber and Taylor; daughter, Melissa Roberts (Butch) and grandchildren Aaron (Laura), Jessica (Kervyn), Brianna, Hannah, Thorn, Faith, and Hailey; his 11 great grandchildren; sister, Linda Gamboa (James), and the many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will fondly remember him.
Larry was preceded in death by his loving parents Leonard Wilson and Lucille Barrett Bullard; and his brothers LW Junior. (Sonny) and Leland Ray Bullard.
The Family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice of Lubbock for their loving care and kindness to our loving Father.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in honor of Larry Bullard to:
