Calvin Brunken, 94, of Lubbock passed from this life Saturday, September 8, 2018. He was born February 28, 1924 in Gotebo, Oklahoma to the late Carl and Ethel Brunken. Calvin graduated from Mountain Home High School, Gentry, Arkansas and attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, where he played football.
He married Joanna Fern Karry, January 28, 1957 she preceded him in death, January 12, 2000. Calvin owned and operated the Brunken Toyota and Chevrolet Dealership in Lubbock from 1970-1993; Frenship Motors in Wolfforth from 1993-1999 and Brunken Auto Sales from 1999 until his retirement in 2009. He was lifelong member of the Lubbock Lions Club and enjoyed car racing, fishing, gardening and crossword puzzles and was an antique car enthusiast.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
Calvin is survived by his daughter, Kelly Miller and husband, Mark; son, Karry Brunken; grandchildren, Misty Silveus and husband Cameron, Kaitlin and Karley Miller; and great grandchildren Anna Mason and Lia Silveus; sisters Joe Young and Adia Ray Duke and a brother, Denton Brunken.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 Friday, September 14, 2018 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p,m, Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with Pastor Ray Christman officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
