Betty Carolyn Pusser age 77 passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 6:18 p.m. surrounded by family, in the arms of her husband and soul mate of 60 years, Charles Ray Pusser. Of all the things she did in this life, nothing compared to being with Charles, their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her siblings. She fought every day to stay alive and to be with those she loved. After surviving several battles with cancer, she lost her final battle to gastric cancer while being cared for at UMC Supportive Care Unit.
Betty was born on June 24,1938 in Apex, North Carolina to George and Dollie Holland. After graduating from Apex High School, She met and married her husband Charles Ray Pusser on January 27,1955. They raised 4 children: Diane Pusser Nazario, Dennis Pusser, Nancy Pusser, and Melody Pusser.
Betty always had a positive outlook. She was compassionate in caring for those around her. Betty made friends easily and maintained contact with many. She was an active volunteer, most notably for her church as a Sunday school teacher and bible study leader. She also volunteered for many years at Covenant Medical Center. Her creative passion was shown through her chosen profession working as a Florist for many years and owning Accent Flowers in Lubbock. She was active in the Lamplighters Chapter of American Business Women’s Association and was honored as Woman of the Year in 1989.
Betty was also good with numbers and games – she enjoyed playing Dominos and Bunco with her friends and seek-and-find puzzles with her great grandchildren.
Family and friends can gather to honor and remember her life with visiting hours on Friday, July 24, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home and Memorial Park 5740 W. 19th St., Lubbock Texas 79407 at 806-791-6200.
The Funeral will be Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 10 a.m.at Shadow Hill Baptist Church (Encounter)
