Berhl Robertson

Berhl Robertson, 80, passed away on September 19, 2012 at his home in Lubbock, Texas. Services will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home (Abbey Chapel) on Saturday, September 22 at 1:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday September 21, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Berhl was born in Robert Lee, Texas to James Leo and Lydia Blair Robertson on July 21, 1932. He retired from New Deal ISD as Vocational Agricultural Teacher in 1990 after 29 years of teaching and administration. He married Jannette in Las Vegas, Nevada, on July 7, 1976. Berhl enjoyed fishing, horses, and visiting with friends at the Pancake House.

Berhl attended Eastland Public Schools and served in the U.S. Air Force for four years attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He graduated from Texas Tech with a B.S in 1961 and received a M.Ed and All-Level Administration Certification from Texas Tech in 1972. He was on the first City Council established in New Deal and served as a member of the New Deal Lions Club. Berhl was a life member of TSTA, Disabled American Veterans, and Vocational Agricultural Teachers Assoc. He was also a member of the Methodist Church.

Berhl was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Geraldine Clark and Wilma Siler; brother, Otis Robertson.

Survivors include his wife Jannette; son, Berhl, Jr. and wife Traci; daughter, Valli Robertson; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Lubbock for their assistance in caring for Berhl and a special thank you to Durwin Lawson for the dedicated care and assistance he provided during Berhl’s final weeks.
