Amelia Rubio Guzman, 78, passed away Friday October 11, 2013 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born March 18, 1935 to Arellio and Amalia Rubio in Crystal City, Texas. Amelia married Rudy Guzman March 14, 1953.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Rudy Guzman Sr.; children Rudy Guzman Jr., Rosalinda Guzman and husband Jimmy Luera, Rachel Rodriguez, Olga Castillo and husband Henry, Gloria Guzman, Richard Guzman and wife Deborah, Randy Guzman and wife Patricia, Alicia Mercado and husband Gary, Ruben Guzman; grandchildren Jason Lee Garza and Amalia Riojas; sisters, Margot Gonzales, Pam Edmond and Olga Thein; brothers Armando Rubio and Pete Pena; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Maria Flores, Grandson Daniel Martinez Jr., and Great-grandson, David Rivera III.
Visitation will be Monday October 14 in Resthaven Funeral Home from 5 to 7 pm with a Rosary at 7 PM. A mass will be held Tuesday October 15 at 10 AM in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, with Father Jim O’Conner officiating. Burial will follow in City of Lubbock Cemetery.
