It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Sharon Pedersen, our loving and devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched. With her family by her side, she went home to be with the Lord April 30, 2020, at the age of 82.
Sharon was born to Carrie and Walter Rosenbaum in 1937 and raised on a farm in Nebraska along with her 2 sisters and 3 brothers. She dabbled in art and music and was proud to say that she once played the lead in her High School play of "My Gal Sal". She married the late Harold Pedersen in 1955, and they lived together in Longmont Colorado for most of their lives.
Our mother was the most ordinary yet extraordinary person. Her entire life was focused on her family and bringing love into everyone's life. She had 2 biological children and adopted 13 more. She also fostered over 500 children in over 25 years of foster care service. It was very clear that she had to make sure that every child she cared for felt loved, if even for just a little while.
Sharon also had 23 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Her greatest joy was family gatherings when she could just sit back and watch everyone having a wonderful time. Because of her welcoming spirit, it is amazing how so many paths have and will continue to cross.
She taught her children the meaning of love, forgiveness and acceptance by the way she lived her life. When new children came into our home they were accepted as our new brother or sister. Her love was unconditional and her words were always kind.
The life that Mom lived will still live on in SO many ways. Her kindness was from her heart and not from want. We can all learn from her love and compassion and think of the wonderful memories and time spent with her.
We loved you so much Mom and we will always miss you!
