Reuben was born on June 13, 1946 in Twin Falls, ID, to Lee Arthur and Dorothy (Johnson) Wilbur.
He graduated from high school in Dearborn, MI, in 1964 and from Eastern University in St. Davids, PA, in 1968. He completed a Masters of Divinity from Iliff School of Theology in Denver in 1971, and received a Doctorate of Ministry from San Francisco Theological Seminary in 1984. Reuben went on to complete a Masters in Business Administration from Wake Forest University in 1987.
Reuben spent most of his career with the United Methodist Church. The majority of those years he worked in administration as a conference treasurer in Montana and Missouri. Starting in 2020, he became an active volunteer and later an employee at the Loveland Visitors Center.
Reuben met Shirley Anne Tuetken while in college in 1967, and they were married in Mt. Holly, NJ, on June 13, 1970. Reuben was an avid outdoorsman, including camping, hiking and fishing. He was a long time amateur radio operator. He and Shirley traveled to all 50 states and to twelve countries.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, sons Joshua and Lee, daughters-in-law Helen and Huda, and four grandchildren Miranda, Eliah, Doris and Reuben. And by his brother Linn and his wife Ann in Nevada, IA, and his step-sister Pat Cockerill of Loveland, CO.
