Delmar was the eldest child of Julius William Wittler and Mary Anna Heidelk. He grew up in Jansen, Nebraska, alongside his siblings Leland, Emily, Elaine, and Mary Lou, whom he cherished dearly throughout his life.
On August 7, 1955, Delmar married Marian Shultz of Fairbury, Nebraska. Together they built a life full of love and shared accomplishments. Delmar was a devoted father to his three children: Becky, Randy, and Rodney. His role as a grandfather brought him immense joy, nurturing relationships with Caitlin and Michelle (Randy's daughters), Skylar (Becky's daughter), and Samuel (Rodney's son). He was also blessed to be a great-grandfather to Lucille and Cormac, children of Caitlin.
Delmar's professional journey was marked by dedication and success. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Vocational Agriculture from the University of Nebraska in 1951, where he also belonged to the esteemed FarmHouse Fraternity. Delmar's passion for agriculture led him to teach Vocational Agriculture at Lyons High School in Nebraska, impacting the lives of many young students.
From 1959 to 1980, Delmar served as the Sales Manager for NC+ Hybrids, followed by his tenure as a Colorado Distributor until his retirement in 1980. Post-retirement, Delmar found fulfillment in his hobbies, particularly golf, and in managing the Cimmeron Apartments in Loveland, Colorado.
Delmar honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. His commitment continued long after his service, as he served as Honor Guard in over 1,200 funerals for fellow servicemen and women. His involvement with the PAM (Proud American Military) VETS organization in Loveland underscored his enduring dedication to his comrades and the veteran community.
Delmar Duane Wittler will be remembered for his unwavering integrity, his deep love for his family, and his steadfast service to his country and community. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as the countless lives he touched throughout his lifetime.
A Memorial Service to honor Delmar's life will be held at Faith Church, Loveland, Colorado, on July 9, 2024, at 11:00 AM, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to PAMVETS (https://qualifiedlisteners.org/pamvet/) in Delmar's memory.
