Deborah "Deb" Jane Blom

She is survived by her loving husband Stephen Blom of 37 years, their children and grandchildren: Kyle (Sara) Fischer and their children Wrigley and Piper, Rene (Dan) Fesmire and their children Mitchell and Maddie, Matt Blom, and Elizabeth Blom and her children Olivia and Gavin. Her brothers Doug (Deb) Nannen, Donn (Bridget) Nannen, Dane (Melissa) Nannen, and Dan (Bobbi) Nannen. Aunts and Uncles Marion Royal and Neil and Carole Nannen, and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews.

Deb was born October 23, 1951 to Raymond "Bob" Nannen and Margaret Whitehead Nannen in

Syracuse, Nebraska. She was the oldest of 5 children and helped to raise her 4 younger brothers.

After graduating High School in Syracuse in 1969 she married James Fischer. Following their divorce, she married Stephen Blom and moved to Rockville, Maryland in 1985 before finally settling in Windsor, Colorado in March of 1999.

Deb held many successful career experiences that allowed her to enjoy her love for travel. She obtained her Radiologic Technology certification and worked as a Radiology Technician while earning her Bachelor of Science in Education at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE. She then went on to Southeast Community College in Lincoln, NE where she was a Clinical Instructor. Upon moving to Rockville, MD, she became the Continuing Education Coordinator

and Director of Membership for the American College Health Association. At this time, she also

obtained her Masters Degree in General Administration (MGA) from the University of Maryland

with a Major in Health Care Administration.

She then moved on to work at the Lupus Foundation of America in Rockville, MD from

1991-1999 where she was the Director of Chapter & Client Services, Interim Executive Director

and Senior Vice President for Chapter Relations and Board Development. Following the Lupus

Foundation of America, she moved to Windsor, CO where she spent 13 years as Executive

Director for ACCED-I (Association of Collegiate Conference and Events Directors International)

in Ft. Collins, CO. There she connected collegiate conference and events professionals to

resources, knowledge and other professionals so they have access to the latest trends and

information in this unique industry.

Deb enjoyed travel, reading, cooking, her work in meeting planning, her family and especially

her grandchildren. She worked hard to provide loved ones with as many opportunities as

possible, especially days at the ocean and eating fresh seafood such as Maryland Blue Crabs

and lobster. Her favorite places were Hawaii, San Diego, CA, Coco Beach, FL, San Antonio, TX

and Scottsdale, AZ. She had bright blue eyes and an infectious smile that was loved by all.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 26 at United Methodist Church in Syracuse, NE.
