Yong Ok Kim, 84, of Louisville passed away March 29, 2011 at Norton Healthcare Pavilion with his family at his side. He was born on October 30, 1926 in Seoul, Korea. He was a member of the Kentucky Mission Church and served from 1950-1953 in the Korean War. He was an accomplished carpenter and was recognized by the Korean Government for his achievement and craftsmanship. On June 20, 1987 he and his family moved to the United States.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Chong Nim Kim.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Kyong Ahn Kim; children, Chong Ae (Young), Chong Suk (Wi Yi), Hyun Ja (Michael), and Chong Chung; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and many friends.
A celebration of his life will be conducted Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 10:00 am at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road with burial in Kentucky Heritage Pavilion Gardens at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 on Friday, April 1, 2011 at the funeral home.
