William T Burton, born on March 7, 1939 passed away on September 10, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Edgar and Irene Burton in Allen County Kentucky. Bill was in the Marine Corps from 1956 until 1959 where he served in Okawanna Japan and the Philippines training in Jungle Warfare. After his discharge he worked for Brown and Williamson from 1959 until 1966. During his last year at Brown and Williamson he opened his small business, Valley Automotive in 1965 that is located in Valley Station, Ky and still remains open. He received his pilot license at Bowman Field Kentucky in 1968. He was a 50 year mason with Valley Lodge 511. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Irene (Maynard) Burton; his brothers, Eddie Burton and Don Burton; granddaughter, Marti Foster and great grandsons, Noah and Nathanial Hupp. Bill is survived by his wife, Alyce Campbell Burton, his daughter, Sandy White (Doug); blended children, Jimmy Hupp (Tracy), Billy Harilson, Cissie Williams (Dave), Alyce Felix, Lee Harilson; sisters, Shirley Hitchcock (Bob) and Barbara Benham (Brett). Also many grandchildren and great grandchildren. His surviving Pets, Rusty and Nikki. We would also like to give thanks to Hospice of Elizabethtown, Ky and Hospice of Louisville for providing Bill with such great care and comfort. Bill was a proud Marine, avid reader of history, proud business owner and took pride in his home with his wife Alyce. Bill had a huge love for his vegetable garden, that he shared with his friends and family. Bill always worked hard, whether it was at his home or at his business. Nothing stopped him, he may have slowed down for a time or two but he never gave up. He truly was an inspiration to many on what it meant to have pride and to be humble in all that he did. He will always be loved and will always be alive in our hearts. His funeral service will be on Wednesday at 12noon at the W.G. Hardy Funeral Home, with burial following in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers you can make a donation to Hospice or Shamrock Pet Foundation of Louisville.
