Theodore Breckenridge “Big Ted” age 63 was called home to our Lord and Savior on March 21, 2025. He was the last child of 7 born March 20th 1962 in Louisville, KY to his parents Etta and Ivo Breckenridge. Theodore accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age. He was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Theodore graduated from Butler High School in 1980, in Louisville, Kentucky. Theodore was a hard worker, he worked for Hesco Parts for 25 years and retired from GE Appliances in 2024. He loved to vacation on the beach and watch his favorite team the Louisville Cardinals play along with his family and friends.
Theodore had a truly one-of-a-kind soul whose love, warmth, and joy touched the lives of everyone he met. To know him was to know what it meant to be loved. He had a big enough heart to hold the world and treated everyone like family no matter who they were or where they came from. He never met a stranger, only future friends and had an incredible gift for making people feel seen, valued, and welcome.
He adored his family and was the very foundation upon which so many beautiful memories were built. A devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. Theodore cherished his wife, children and grandchildren above all else. His joy was in their joy, his peace in their happiness.
With a sense of humor that could light up any room and spirit that couldn’t be duplicated, he brought fun, laughter, and love wherever he went. Whether through a smile, a story, or a simple act of kindness, Theodore left an impression on every heart he encountered. Though our lives feel dimmer without him his light continues to shine in the love he gave so freely and the legacy he leaves behind. We were blessed to know him, and he will be deeply missed, forever, remembered, and always loved.
He is preceded in death by his mother Etta Breckenridge, brother Eugene Breckenridge Sr., and sister Helena Breckenridge. He is survived by his wife, Vickie Breckenridge, son Theodore Breckenridge Jr., daughter Brittney Dykes(William), 5 grandchildren, Theodore Breckenridge III, Justin Breckenridge, Jeremiah Dykes, Jordan Dykes, and Julian Dykes; his father Ivo Breckenridge;sisters, Connie Smith, Cynthia Long, Charlene Briscoe and Gerri Breckenridge; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
His Funeral service will be held at 12:00pm Saturday at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Hwy, followed by burial at Green Meadows Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8pm Friday.
