Susan was a wonderful woman. She was kind and giving, rarely seen without a smile on her face. Every time anyone visited it was filled with laughter and happiness and you couldn't leave until she made sure you had food and a couple gifts.
She often had crochet needles in her hand working on her next project, be it a blanket for someone or a scarf so you don't get cold. She was a beautifully stubborn lady who cared about her family. Anytime you felt down about something she was there to encourage you and cheer you up.
Behind every great family gathering was her, sitting on the porch making jokes in between getting food ready. She was a fantastic cook, she'd make chili and ribs better than anyone. Her family all looked forward to the time we could spend together. She taught everyone a lot about how to live.
She was close with God, when she was able to be more active she would go to church every weekend and lift her arms and close her eyes as she sang hymns. Her family is sure she's in heaven keeping Jesus company and telling him all about her time on Earth. She loved to talk and no doubt that's changed now that she's gone.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kevin Dale Carstens and a son, Thomas Martin Carstens.
Let to cherish her memory is her daughter, Kimberly Carstens; granddaughter, Lexus Mackenzie Carstens Phillips and Grandson, Rylee Phillips Smith. She is also survived by several brothers.
Cremation was entrusted to Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral.
