Sarah E. "Sally" Thomas

Sarah E. "Sally" Thomas, 72, of Louisville, passed away on the evening of June 19th at her home with her family by her side. She was the former Sarah Ballard, a native of Calvary, KY, and a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church. She was a great softball player, an avid bowler, loved to garden and to play the lottery scratch off tickets. During her working career she had been in sales at Behr's Clothing Store.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Viella & Mary Elizabeth Spalding Ballard, and her sisters, Nancy Jean Ballard and Betty Mudd.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 54 years, Lawrence P. Thomas; children, Susan Lorraine Sauer (Jim), Joseph David Thomas (Brenda), Nicholas Clarke Thomas (Amy), Carol Denise Price (Tom), Paula Marie Zirnheld, Charles Martin Thomas (Laura), and Sandy Thomas; brothers, Bobby Ballard (Doris), Freddy Ballard (Joan), Phil Ballard (Carol); sisters, Charlotte DesRoches (Jerry), Agnes Alcorn (Jim), and Brenda Davenport; 15 grandchildren, one great-grandson and her grand-dog, Danny.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 24, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, 5915 Outer Loop, with interment to follow in Brookland Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Road.
