Ron was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Welch, Jr. and Mary Lou (Peters) Welch; his grandparents: John (Duty) Welch, Sr. and Mary Rose (Conley) and Matthew "Bud" and Ida Mae Peters.
Ron is survived by his husband, John Gillespie; brother, John W. Welch, III (Tammi); niece, Kristina (Tim) Schuler; nephew, John W. Welch, IV. (Sarah); great niece, Ariana; great nephew, Timmy and his aunt, Joyce (Peters) Huber, along with many other family members, friends, neighbors and co-workers both in Louisville, Kentucky and Cape Coral, Florida.
Through his eye for design, he enjoyed home renovation on a large scale and had developed a passion for gardening that he shared with his neighbors. He also was becoming an avid boater. He had a comfortable way about him that was endearing to everyone that he met. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Ron attended St. Elizabeth Catholic School in Germantown of Louisville and was a graduate of St. Xavier High School and earned his Bachelors degree in Business at the University of Louisville. He also played baseball for Germantown Little League.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218. A service to honor the life of Ron will be held on Monday, October 11, 2021 at 12 noon at the funeral home. Ron will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Humane Society of Cape Coral, Florida.
