Robert “Bob” Spivey, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2018. He was born on March 28, 1931 and was a lifelong resident of Louisville. He grew up in the Portland neighborhood and graduated from Ahrens Trade School in 1949. After serving in both the United States Naval Reserve and the United States Army, he graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Physics. Bob retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Corporation in 1991 after 38 years of service. He had an Amateur Radio License, Private Pilot’s License and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He was an avid runner; running 30 consecutive mini-marathons, and was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. His father, Cash Spivey, mother, Molly Ray and brother, Cash Spivey, Jr. have preceded him in death.
A much loved husband, father and grandfather “Poppy”, he is survived by his wife of 55 years, to the former, Anna Jean Carlton. Along with his two sons, Mark (Nancy), Steve (Michelle), and daughter, Patty (Mike) Morgan; and seven grandchildren, Will, Luke, Anna, Sydney, Josh, Sarah and Lily.
Visitation will take place from 2-8pm on Thursday, January 25th at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road. A service celebrating Bob’s life will take place at 12pm Friday, January 26th at the funeral home, with burial to take place at Resthaven Memorial Park.
