Mr. Baxter was born February 27, 1936, to the late Robert and Katie Baxter.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Joann M. Baxter and grandson, Phillip Blackburn.
He was a member of the Derbytown Lunker Hunters Bass Club.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Sheila Blackburn and Sandra Vertrees (Virgil); Grandchildren, Katie Blackburn, Virgil Vertrees IV (Danielle Patton) and Anthony Vertrees (Christine); great-grandchildren,
Gage Troutman, Alexis Blackburn, Katlyn Sipes, Beckett Vertrees, Terrence and Kadence Wicks, Avary, Audra and Clementine Vertrees and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday at Evergreen Funeral Home. Visitation will be after 11:00 am Friday until the time of the service.
The family would like to request that memorial donations by directed to the Kentucky Humane Society or the Palliative Care Unit at Baptist Health Louisville.
