Born on June 12, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky, Richard was the son of Lawrence “H.E.” Thomas & Rosa Lee Carwile. He was a Finish Drywaller, working self-employed in construction and remodeling. With pride and honor, Richard served his nation in the United States Army. He served as a Private (E-2) in the 1st Infantry Division based out of Fort Knox, Kentucky. Richard was an avid Golfer. If there was a course, most likely he had played or was actively playing on that particular green which was part of his Sunday routine. He also liked to bowl.
His parents, Lawrence “H.E.” & Rosa Lee Thomas; daughters, Sherry Thomas & Theresa Thomas; brothers & sisters, Robert Thomas, Gene Thomas, Phillip Thomas, Carol Thomas – Hill & Gloria Thomas, precede Richard in his passing.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Doris Thomas; son, Richard (Jeannie) Thomas; 6 – grandchildren, Robert (Brittany) Druin, Raymond (Cierra) Druin, Ricky Thomas, Steven (Valerie) Thomas, Christina (Austin) Spence & Ashley Brown;; 13 – great – grandchildren, Jaxson, Jase, Mallory, Aiden, Jay’lonni, Jenson, Hazel, Mia, Hunter, Grace, Emma, Owen & Raelynn; Sister, Ann Martin; sister – in – law, Brenda (James “Butch) Ballard & sister – in – law, Vicky Thomas; plus, a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dignity Chapel of the Evergreen Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Lily Garden of the Evergreen Cemetery & Garden Mausoleums. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of Service at 2:00 p.m. also at the Evergreen Funeral Home.
