Beloved Sister, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother
Rebecca Coddington, known affectionately as "Becky Coddington" to some, and "Maw" to most others, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024, at the age of 65. Born on April 2nd, 1959, in Louisville, Kentucky, Becky was the youngest of seven children – five brothers and one cherished sister, Sarah Alvey her "SeeSeeOh".
A Wildflower Spirit
Becky's life wasn't always sunshine and sunflowers. As her daughters would say, they were all strong vines, sometimes tangled, but always reaching for the sun in their own way. This independent spirit, inherited from a lineage of wildflowers who wouldn't be caught dead in a greenhouse, led Becky to forge a unique path.
Building Bridges and Cultivating Beauty
This same grit and determination allowed Becky to defy expectations by building bridges and expressway overpasses during a time when such careers were uncommon for women. Yet, her heart belonged to the earth. Her gardens were a haven, bursting with life and color, a testament to her true passion.
A Legacy of Strength and Love
While we may feel a pang for the opportunities life may have denied her, we celebrate the woman she was: a fighter who made the most of what she had. Becky leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and a wildflower spirit that will continue to bloom in her daughters, Margaret and Setareh, her many grandchildren, her great-granddaughters, Lori, Kayden, El, and Lexi, her sister, Sarah, and her brother, Chris.
Memories that Bloom
Becky's memory will be kept alive through shared stories, laughter echoing in the gardens she nurtured, and the green thumbs she so proudly passed on. We'll continue to plant, grow, and celebrate her life beneath the sun, moon, and all the stars above us.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are gratefully accepted to assist with funeral expenses.
