Our mother, Mary Paul Ball, passed away peacefully yesterday, August 23, 2012 at the Parkway Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was 87 years old and the former Mary Thompson. Mom was born to Francis and Isabelle Allen Thompson as a only child.
She had worked for National Distillery as a receptionist, was a member of the Buechel Woman's Club, an avid tennis player and swimmer at Woodhaven Country Club, and was an awesome decorator. All of us children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her life. She was "slow to anger" but was a "fusser" of sorts. Words to describe Mom are, kind and sweet. Anyone that knew her, knew her to be both.
We children, Linda B. Hodge, Carolyn B. (Brian) Gordon and Laurence (Sharon) Ball, along with grandchildren, Aaron Hodge, Cami Welch and Cavin Ball and seven great-grandchildren will cherish her memory deeply. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Cary Steven Ball.
A Life Celebration will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 3 p.m. at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel 4400 Bardstown Road, with private interment in Resthaven Memorial Park - KY Heritage Garden. A gathering of family and friends will be on Monday from 10 a.m. till service time at the funeral home.
The family has designated the American Cancer Society for memorial contributions, and wishes to express their gratitude for the excellant care received at Parkway Medical.
