Lynn Ackley Harmon

The Reverend Dr. Lynn A. Harmon, 82, passed away on April 20, 2014, after a brief illness. Dr. Harmon, a retired United Methodist pastor was born in Russell County Kentucky. A self professed “country pastor, “ he earned is associates degree at Lindsay Wilson College, his bachelor’s from University of Louisville, master’s from Vanderbilt University, and his doctorate from Lexington Theological Seminary. He served the Louisville Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church for over 50 years.

Dr. Harmon was preceded in death by his parents: Claude and Josie Harmon. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley Burnett Harmon; his sister, Oredia Whitaker; two daughters: Jo Robbins and Fran Poropatic; his sons-in-law: Gene Robbins and Steve Poropatic, and two grandsons: Nick Robbins and Mike Poropatic.

A memorial service will be held at Jeffersontown United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 26, at 11 am. Visitation will be held at 10 am prior to the service at the church.
