The Daughter and only child of the late Ray Tomes and Myrtle Mae Cureton was born in Louisville. She is a 1960 graduate of Manual High School where she graduated with her lifelong loyal friend Marsha Douglass (Surbaugh) and then lessor known Senator Mitch McConnell. She worked a career serving many roles for the old General Hospital, eventually becoming the University of Louisville Hospital, where she met more lifelong friends and earned many service awards before retiring in 2009. She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, and being outdoors. She was a longtime member of Evangel church and was a member of the Evangel choir.
She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Ray Clark, and her companion of over 30 years, Eddie Thomas.
She is survived by three children; son Darrell Clark (Suzanne), daughters Dawn Piercy (Robert) and Dana Ridener (Brian), eight grandchildren; Ryan Clark (Michelle), Kayla Morgan (Chris), Kobey Clark, Cherish Chavez (Miguel), Shaney Brewer (Ethan), Ashley Barrow, Isaac Ridener, and Maelyn Ridener; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, July 30, at 2:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Highway with internment in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2023 and from 1:00p.m. until service time on Sunday, July 30, 2023.
