Lorene was born to the late Herdis and Mary Ellen Wells on September 17, 1925, in Barren County, KY. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Barlow, and by brothers Jessie, Clifton (Pete), James, and sister Lou Verda (Tince).
Lorene graduated from Park City High School in May 1944. She married Barlow Moore on July 15, 1944. Lorene was a full time mother, homemaker and farmer. She enjoyed quilting, and made many beautiful quilts for her family and friends over the years.
Lorene was a long-standing member of Becker Drive Missionary Baptist Church where she felt comfort and developed many friends.
Lorene is survived by her children, Harold (Jack) and his wife Mary, Carol Wood and her husband Bill, Neil and his wife Pat, and Steve and his wife Karen. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jackson (Melissa), Justin (Myrdin), Brandon (Carrington), Rene Hayes, Billy Wood (Kim), Jill Kurk (Josh), Jennifer Ruch (Zach), Jessica Brown (Ben) and 14 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 18, from 2-8 pm at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Highway, Louisville, Kentucky. The funeral service will be Friday, February 19, at Noon, with internment at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, Kentucky, on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 12:30 pm.
