Lillie Eleanor Dailey, 90, died peacefully on November 16, 2015 at Baptist East Hospital Palliative Care. Lillie was born November 30, 1924 to the late Frank A. and Lillie Schamberger Lesko in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She was a retired registered nurse that graduated from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Newark, New Jersey. She worked for 13 years as a psychiatric nurse at Our Lady of Peace Hospital and most recently with Hosparus for 10 years, bringing comfort to patients facing the ends of their lives.
She was a member of Springdale Presbyterian Church and a member of the church choir, the woman’s circles and the social dining group. Her ready smile and enthusiasm endeared her to everyone.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years John (Jack) Dailey, and her great-grandchild Piper McHone.
She is survived by her “tribe” of four children, sons John J. (Debbie), Frank N. (Annie), James E. (Mary Ellen), and daughter Ellie McHone (Reg), 9 grandchildren Jennifer Barkevich, Andrew Dailey M.D., Jaimie Hargrave, Emily Browning, Sherri Dailey, Sarah Miller, Sean McHone, Stephanie McHone Robinett and Patrick Dailey and 22 great-grandchildren.
Lillie’s greatest pleasure was her family and always said, “Family is the most important thing”.
Services to celebrate Lillie’s life will be held at 10 am Thursday in the chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son, 7410 Westport Road, with interment to follow at Cave Hill. Visitation for family and friends will be held 2-8 pm Wednesday.
