Martin, Kenneth Roundy, 70, departed this life Dec. 29, 2023. He was born Oct. 31, 1953, in Salem, MA. The family moved in 1961 to Kensington, CT, home to some of his fondest memories. Upon graduating summa cum laude from the University of Hartford with a BS in Marketing, Ken became a successful account executive.
Moving to Louisville in 1989, he cultivated a robust career over the next quarter century in the communications industry beginning with AT&T. As this industry imploded, Ken earned Series 7 and Series 66 licenses to serve as a financial counselor. Later, with much reflection and support of family, Ken chose a career that beckoned from a deeper place. Earning his MSW from Kent School of Social Work, University of Louisville, he served his many clients with a caring heart, a sense of humor and endless movie quotes!
Ken was active in church music for over 50 years and was a singer on the album “72 Hilltones.” He directed youth handbell choirs and was active in handbell programs for over two decades.
In retirement, Ken and Dana adopted “Big Red” a 1979 Buick Electra Ltd. They had many adventures as active members of Kentuckiana Antique Automobile Club, Antique Automobile Club of America, and the Buick Club of America.
Ken is predeceased by his parents, Priscilla Whiting Roundy and Richard Saunders Martin, and brother, Gregory R. Martin.
A beloved husband, father, “Papa Ken” and “GrampaKen” he is survived by his wife Dana Marie; four children, Jad-Uri Covington [Tori], Jaeryl Huelett [Brandon], James and Edward ‘Teddy’ Martin; grandsons, Zoronaen Covington, Kalian Huelett; granddaughter, Remi Milesko; brother, Gary S. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4pm Sunday January 7, 2024 with visitation prior from 2pm-4pm at Arch L Heady & Son Funeral Home, 7410 Westport Rd. Louisville, KY 40222.
