MORRIS, KAY BRELAND, 91, of Louisville, passed from this life on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Treyton Oak Towers.
She was a native of Newton, MS, a former school teacher for the Jefferson County Schools, she was valedictorian of Eastern High School in Richmond, KY, and was an alumni at U of L, where she belonged to the Delta Zeta sorority. She was a preacher's daughter, a military wife and a longtime member of Walnut Street Baptist Church, where she also sang in the choir. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James H. Morris, Sr. She is survived by her sons, James H. Morris, Jr. (Geri) and Lee L. Morris (Diane); and a sister, Martha Breland Lester. A service to celebrate Mrs. Morris' life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Walnut Street Baptist Church, 1101 So. 3rd St. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Southern Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd., and at the church after 10 a.m. Friday.
