Kathy Marie Simpson was born on Nov 15 1958, to James Richard and Rachael Clarene in Kentucky. After Kathy graduated from J-Town High School her dreams were to raise a family of her own and to become a nurse.
After graduating with a degree in nursing from Jefferson State Vocational Technical School, she started her first job at working in nursing homes taking care of the elderly as an RN, kickstarting a 30 year career in nursing; loving what she did in support of others giving the coat off her back if they needed it. She was always there for you when you needed her. It didn’t matter, day or night, the situation, she loved and cared for everyone and showed it through her efforts.
In 1981, Kathy Simpson met Thomas Hawkins Jr in Campbellsburg, Kentucky. Kathy Simpson and Thomas Hawkins Jr went on to have three beautiful children together, Melody Hawkins (McIntyre), Jeremy Hawkins, and Brandon Hawkins.
In 2020 Kathy Simpson retired from nursing and spent her time helping others, continuing to serve her community helping those with addiction and loving on all who had the pleasure of meeting or crossing paths with her. She was a proud grandmother of 13 (Nana Kathy) and absolutely loved everything, especially if it was purple. She was a humble woman with a taste for some of the finer things; mainly decorations for her apartment and knock off purses. She was a woman who would keep her Christmas tree up all year long so she could enjoy the lights and decorate as each holiday passed. Our mother, would want nothing more than for every person to remember the good in her. Remember the moments that made each and every one of us smile. The moments when we needed someone to lean on and she was there. Remember the good and pass it forward as she would often tell us. Kathy Marie Simpson was a goofy, corny, quirky woman that should never be crossed and had a stern side to her, but loved to to dance and laugh with the ones she loved.
Kathy Simpson was predeceased by her mother and father, James Richard and Rachael Clarene.
She is survived by her children Melody Hawkins (McIntyre), Jeremy Hawkins, and Brandon Hawkins, Gary Mc’Cain, her 13 grandchildren, Dakota, Kaitlyn, Destiney, Toby, Olivia, Julian, Liam, Eli, Amelia, Luke, Isaac, Ruby, and Sadie.
