Mr. Warren was one of the main reasons I didn’t give up art and colorguard. He always told me to “just keep spinning and drawing!” He was an amazing person and teacher. I will always remember our little talks in the band room. You will be missed so much. 

I knew Josh in high school. He was one of those people I looked forward to seeing even when I didn’t want to be in class. He was always a supportive sweetheart(and a total goofball). Such a good human. 
To his family, friends, and students: I wish you strength in moving through the weight of this difficult loss.  So much love to you all. Deepest condolences, dears.

I will never forget the love Warren showed for his kiddos before during and even after school. Also how much dedication he gave to my son Matthew Johnson. Thanks Warren for everything you did for your kiddos you will truly be missed in so many ways 

I remember Josh being such a talented young Saxophonist back at YPAS, he was tremendously competitive yet compassionate to challenge his peers to reach their greatest potential.

Where do I even begin this man was my friend when I first met him he was the most cool guy ever he knew how to shread and still be a cool guy this thought me every pep band song and let me play them I never forget the memories with him  he was a a best friend and a father figure but most of all he was my friend miss u warren rip

Josh and I met  in the sax section of the UofL marching band. We became fast friends and bonded over our shared love of jazz music and hockey. Josh once taught me how to ice skate backwards, even though I had insisted I was completely incapable. Although we had only spoken a handful of times since graduating, I am incredibly honored to have spent the time together that we did and will miss Josh very much. He is one of the most talented and honest people I have ever met. My sincere condolences to his family.

Mr. Warren was my favorite band teacher. He was full of kindness and optimism. He had a great sense of humor as he wasn't only treating us like his students, but his friends. Mr. Warren is the motivation and reason I play guitar. Without him ever being my teacher, I wouldn’t have caught so much interest in music. So thanks to his teaching and after his passing, I will continue to learn and play because I know that is what he wanted for me.

I had been teaching at Fern Creek HS for a number of years when I first met Josh.  As a JROTC instructor, not only had I been teaching in JCPS for several years, but had served in the Marines for 21 years around the globe. suffice to say I have high standards and expectations for those in professions, especially teaching, and have a jaded outlook on how people perform to the standard to which they should.  Josh was an instant hit.  In professions that demand personal sacrifice and selfless service, I am not looking for surface level friendly people ,(although Josh was a kind, generous person). but I found a deeper person that through his infectious positive attitude, willingness to put in hours, and genuine care for the person of the student and the impacts he may have for years, a solid professional who truly cared for the young adults he was entrusted with.  I enjoyed our brief engagements in the halls and during school performances.  Behind his cheerful countenance was a solid professional looking to push his students past their perceived potential.  His attitude was refreshing and it made me do introspection on myself and push me to high performance.  We cannot go back in time and change events as much as we desire.  What we can do is remember the mark left on our lives, and raise a glass.

Josh was a energetic young man who loved music and his band kids.  He was a teacher and mentor to Isaiah and was there for him when he needed someone to talk to. My favorite memories are all the concerts and football games. His energy was contagious and kept the kids going to the end of the games. He was the most caring man and we will miss his smile, humor and laughter.  Words cannot express how much he will be missed. 

My freshmen year was Warren’s first year as Band Director so we were both learning the ways  of Fern Creek, We both share a passion for Rock music so we connected and had deep conversations about our favorite bands... I dedicate my senior year to his honor. Rest In Peace Mr. Warren...

Although I never met Joshua I feel a connection to him and I am deeply saddened. I am a retired band director and I actually graduated from Fern Creek in 1977. My thoughts and prayers are with the immediate family as well as the entire Fern Creek family. 

I'm so sorry for your loss.  You and your family are in my prayers. I am a fellow teacher at FCHS and got to work with Josh when my students with special needs took a music class with him. He was always an advocate for them, patient and kind. He will be greatly missed by his FC family.
